How do Many from the "1%" Cope with Democracy?

In a democracy, the "people" (normally understood to be a majority of a given community) are supposed to rule. This constitutes a basic problem for the wealthy few who comprise a tiny minority in their society, and whose interests frequently conflict with the people's. How, therefore, do some of them cope with democracy as they pursue their often narrow goals? Why, deception, of course!
